About Open Artery Studio - An independent artist studio
I create artwork through Open Artery Studio as a way of making the internal visible — the pulse, pressure, humor, ache, and electricity that live beneath the surface of everyday experience. The name Open Artery speaks to that impulse: work that is exposed, alive, and honest enough to show where the feeling moves.
My process is rooted in a mix of discipline and instinct. I’m drawn to bold compositions, tactile materials, character, contrast, and images that carry both playfulness and intensity. Whether I’m developing original paintings, prints, apparel, or objects, I’m interested in the moment when an idea becomes physical — when a private image turns into something another person can recognize in their own body.
Open Artery Studio is built around the belief that art doesn’t have to choose between beauty and bite. I create pieces that can be funny, unsettling, nostalgic, intimate, or strange — sometimes all at once. The work is personal, but not closed off; it’s an invitation to feel something directly, without polishing away the edge.
